What’s up Gaming Heroes, welcome back to another awesome World of Warcraft guide.
One of the most common questions I get asked is:
“What consumables do I actually need?”
Whether you’re raiding, pushing Mythic+, farming PvP, or just trying to perform your best, consumables make a noticeable difference. The problem is that Midnight has so many different options that it’s easy to waste thousands of gold buying things you don’t actually need.
This guide covers the essential consumables every player should carry, what each one does, and how to save gold without sacrificing performance.

Essential Consumables Every Player Should Carry
No matter what class or role you play, these are the consumables you should always keep in your bags.
Flasks
Flasks provide a one-hour combat buff and should always be active before entering raids, Mythic+ dungeons, or difficult PvE content.
Choose the flask that provides your best secondary stat.
- Flask of the Blood Knights – Haste
- Flask of the Shattered Sun – Critical Strike
- Flask of the Magisters – Mastery
- Flask of the Thalassian Resistance – Versatility
For PvP players farming Honor, consider using:
- Vicious Thalassian Flask of Honor – Increases Honor gained by 15%.
If you’re unsure which secondary stat is best for your class, check your preferred class guide or run a simulation.
Food Buffs
Food works similarly to flasks but offers a shorter-duration stat increase.
Raiding with a Guild
Most guilds will provide feasts, such as:
- Silvermoon Parade
- Harandar Celebration
These are the easiest option and provide excellent buffs for the whole raid.
For progression raids, Hearty Feasts are particularly valuable because the buff persists through death, meaning you won’t need to keep reapplying food after every wipe.
Personal Food
If you’re bringing your own food, choose one that matches your preferred stats.
Popular primary stat foods include:
- Royal Roast
- Twilight Angler’s Medley
- Spellfire Fillet
- Mana Infused Stew
- Bloom Skewers
If your class benefits more from secondary stats, use foods such as:
- Champion’s Bento
- Flora Frenzy
Again, simply match the food to whichever secondary stat performs best for your class.
Silvermoon Health Potions
If there is one consumable you should never leave Silvermoon City without, it’s:
Silvermoon Health Potions
These are incredibly cheap and regularly save players during difficult mechanics.
Every raid tier has countless moments where a simple health potion prevents a wipe.
Healers should also consider carrying:
Refreshing Serum
This restores both health and mana, making it a fantastic emergency consumable.
Weapon Enhancements
Weapon enhancements are one of the most commonly forgotten consumables in the game.
Melee Players
Use either:
- Refulgent Whetstone (bladed weapons)
- Refulgent Weightstone (maces, staves and other blunt weapons)
Casters
Choose the weapon oil that best suits your class.
Options include:
- Phoenix Oil
- Smuggler’s Enchanted Edge
- Oil of Dawn
Each provides slightly different bonuses, so use whichever sims highest for your character.
Mythic+ Consumables
For Mythic+, I recommend carrying:
- Flask
- Food
- Weapon Enhancement
- Silvermoon Health Potions
- Combat Potions
For combat potions you’ll generally want:
Light’s Potential
This grants a large burst of Primary Stat and is ideal for most damage dealers.
Some specs may perform better using:
Potion of Recklessness
This greatly increases your highest secondary stat while reducing your lowest.
Always sim your character if you’re unsure.
Save Gold with Silver Quality Potions
One of the biggest gold-saving tricks in Midnight is simply using Silver Quality combat potions for most keys.
Gold Quality potions are significantly more expensive while offering only a small performance increase.
Reserve Gold Quality potions for:
- High Mythic+ keys
- Difficult progression bosses
- Competitive parses
For everything else, Silver Quality provides excellent value.
Raid Consumables
Raiding is where consumables become much more important.
Every raid night I recommend carrying:
- Flask
- Food
- Weapon Enhancement
- Light’s Potential
- Silvermoon Health Potions
- Void-Touched Augment Rune
Augment Runes are expensive, so I generally save them for:
- Progression bosses
- Parse attempts
- Difficult Mythic encounters
If your guild is progressing on a specific boss, consider using a:
Vantus Rune
These provide additional Versatility against a chosen encounter and can make progression slightly easier.
Another Gold Saving Tip
When learning a new boss, I use Silver Quality Light’s Potential potions until the raid consistently reaches around 20–25%.
Once we’re getting close to a kill, I switch to Gold Quality potions.
Over an entire raid tier, this saves thousands of gold.
PvP Consumables
PvP players don’t need a huge collection of consumables.
I’d recommend carrying:
- Vicious Thalassian Flask of Honor
- Food
- Silvermoon Health Potions
- Appropriate Weapon Enhancement
Simple, effective and inexpensive.
Profession Consumables
If professions are part of your weekly routine, don’t overlook profession consumables.
Gathering
- Haranir Vial of Perception
- Haranir Vial of Finesse
These improve your gathering efficiency and increase the value of every farming session.
Crafting
- Haranir Vial of Ingenuity
Excellent for players regularly crafting equipment or consumables.
Utility Potions Worth Carrying
Some consumables won’t be used every day but are incredibly useful when needed.
Void-Shrouded Tincture
Provides invisibility.
Perfect for skipping enemies.
Light’s Preservation
Grants a damage absorb shield for additional survivability.
Lightfused Mana Potion
Quickly restores mana during combat.
Potion of Devoured Dreams
Restores mana outside combat.
Enlightenment Tonic
Reduces falling speed and can save your life after an unfortunate jump.
How Many Consumables Should You Carry?
I recommend carrying enough supplies for at least two raid nights.
That usually means:
- Several flasks
- Plenty of food
- A full stack of Silvermoon Health Potions
- Multiple stacks of Light’s Potential
- Spare weapon enhancements
- A few Augment Runes
Spending five minutes preparing once is much easier than constantly visiting the Auction House halfway through raid night.

Final Thoughts
The biggest mistake players make with consumables isn’t forgetting them…
It’s buying far more than they actually need.
Stick to the essentials, use Silver Quality potions for everyday content, save the expensive consumables for progression, and you’ll perform just as well while saving yourself a significant amount of gold over the course of the expansion.
