This guide will take you step by step through the process of how to install Trade Skill Master. TSM helps you with so much and let’s be honest the gold potential can be an exciting concept but extremely complicated! I’ll try my best in this guide make it as easy as possible. The first step is downloading and installing TSM (Trade Skill Master). This is fortunately super easy, as they have a step by step guide, however we’ll try and simplify it slightly in this article.
Firstly you’ll need to make a TSM account, so head on over to the TradeSkillMaster website. In the top right corner, you’ll see the “Sign In” button. Click it.
If you already have an account you can simply login here, otherwise you need to make an account by clicking the “Register” button. Fill out the information. Remember the password, as you’ll need it in just a bit.
Now head on over to the TradeSkillMaster Install page (it is also located on the bottom right side of their main page). This is also where you’ll find the step-by-step guide. In the first step of the guide you’ll see the download link.
Click the “Windows” text if you run World of Warcraft on a Windows pc, or “Mac” if you run the game on a Mac pc. Now it’ll download a “Setup.exe”. Head into your downloaded files on your computer, and locate the “Setup.exe” and click it.
Just follow through with the download. You can change the download location, and it does not have to be within your World of Warcraft game files. If you already have the addon downloaded it’ll ask if you want to update your TSM app, however this is not necessary.
When you’ve downloaded the TSM desktop app, you’ll need to login with the account you just made on the TSM website. You now need to add the path to the World of Warcraft gamefiles. Open your Battle.net desktop app, go to the World of Warcraft game menu. Here click the cogwheel next to the “Play” button, and click “Game Settings”.
In the game settings you’ll see your install location. In the TSM desktop app, go to settings in the top right corner. In the general tab you’ll see the “WoW Directory”. This needs to be the same location as your wow install location.
While you’re there I would strongly recommend enabling the “Run on Startup” option, as you need the desktop app to be open, if you want it to work in game. However if you know, that you have an unstable pc, maybe opt out of this and only run it if you’re playing the game.
When you’ve added the WoW directory head back out of the seettings and go to the “Addon Versions” tab. Here choose the TradeSkillMaster and AppHelper for the versions of the game you would like to use TSM for.
You need to enable both the TradeSkillMaster and the TSM_AppHelper!!!
Lastly you need to add realms for more accurate in-game data. Head back into the settings for the TSM desktop app. In the general tab again, add your characters realm by using the drop down menu below the WoW directory.
You can add up to 10 realms, if you have a free account. If you want more than 10 realms you can buy it with a subscription on the TradeSkillMaster website. Now just close and restart the app and you are good to go! Enjoy the effortless gold making.
Now you can login to WOW, double check you have TSM Installed and Enabled in the Addons section of your Login screen. If you do then login and click the TSM icon near your mini-map. The addon should look similar to this:
At this point you are ready to setup Groups, Operations and change your Settings to how you like.
The TSM App keeps your addon data up-to-date meaning you will have more accurate pricing data and less chance to make mistakes. It also provides features such as Accounting exports and automatic backups of your TSM settings.
