What’s up, Gaming Heroes, If you’re aiming to make serious gold through Engineering in this new expansion, you’ve come to the right place. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the best ways to spend your Knowledge Points, focusing on maximizing your efficiency and profitability in crafting Engineering parts.
Inventing – Gold Making
Inventing offers a mix of general Engineering bonuses, Reagent Crafting, and Cogwheel Crafting. The top nodes in this tree boost your skill, Ingenuity, Multicraft, and Resourcefulness, making it essential for those focused on crafting high-quality parts and reagents. We love this build because the profits you can make are quite literally INSANE!
DO THIS FIRST – Leveling, Treasure & Journal
If you have not done so already, make sure you completed the War Within Campaign once on one character just so you have access to things like the Kej currency and other useful features of War Within.
The first step is to level up your Engineering, Collect the Engineering Treasures and then buy your Engineering Journal from City of Threads using Keg. We will detail below all the information you need to accomplish this task.

1. Leveling Engineering
Leveling engineering is straight forward, you wont be able to get to level 100 right away so just do your best with crafts that you can. Focus on crafting anything with the “First CRAFT” bonus. This will reward to knowledge points and ultimately save you gold in the long run. Get your engineering to at least level 25 then move onto step 2. You can always level it up further as we go on with gold making.

3. Engineering Journal (10 Knowledge Points)
Players can make a one-time purchase of Knowledge Point Books with Kej in Azj’kahet. These books can be bought from Profession Suppliers inside the City of Threads, and each book rewards 10 Knowledge Points. The cost for each Profession Book is 565 Kej, the new faction-based currency for The Severed Threads.
Get the Engineering Journal from the location in the picture below, it will reward you with 10 highly valuable engineering knowledge points.
You can transfer Kej across from other characters as long as your current character has at least 1 Kej in their currency tab. If you have non then pick up some treasures in Azj-Kahet until you get some.
Max Quality and Concentration
Before diving into how to spend your Knowledge Points, it’s crucial to understand the concept of Concentration, which allows you to craft an item at a quality one tier higher than your base skill would normally permit. The amount of Concentration required depends on the skill gap, with a minimum amount always needed; even if you’re only 1 skill point short, you’d still require about 150-300 Concentration to craft a max-rank item, depending on whether it’s gear or a consumable. Since Concentration regenerates at around 240 points daily, you’ll be limited to crafting 1-2 items per day at max quality until your build is fully optimized.
I highly recommend saving your concentration for Patron orders so that you can farm (Crafting Orders) from Patrons for EASY Engineering Knowledge points. Check the rewards from the Patron crafting orders and build any that give you Knowledge point rewards. This will get you to high profit parts crafting faster.
Engineering Equipment
For each crafting and gathering profession, there is one tool and two accessories slots. They’ll give you additional stats that will be much welcome and will make your profits go up per craft, get your crafting gear sorted. You can equip these by opening your profession journal (K).
Selling Reagents Build
The goal of this build is to craft Quality 3 (Q3) Engineering parts without needing to use Concentration.
This will allow you to produce large quantities of high-quality parts that can be sold for profit on the Auction House.

Spending Knowledge Points
Here’s the recommended order for spending your points:
Inventing (10 Points) – Unlock the Parts sub-specialization.
Parts (40 Points) – Focus on gaining skill points, and multicraft, and learning the four Cogwheel recipes.
Inventing (+30 Points) – Invest more points to boost your overall skill.
Get Craftsim to work out profits!
At this stage, you should be able to craft all parts at max quality with Concentration, keep getting knowledge points. From here, you can either focus on boosting Resourcefulness by investing points into Scrapper or start putting points into Ingenious to craft Q3 parts using Q2 materials and Concentration.
How Does This Make Gold?
To make gold with this build simply check your parts crafts and craft anything with over 20 gold profit, with parts crafting that might seem like low gold profits but remember you are crafting about 1000+ of these items so that “low profit” quickly turns into HIGH profit due to the sheer amount you are selling.
