Why is Enchanting Good in The War Within?
Beginning in Dragonflight, professions received a much-needed rework. This new system continues in The War Within, bringing players back to a regular profession update cycle similar to previous expansions. In The War Within, Enchanting remains a viable profession for goldmaking.
Enchanters are the providers of enchantments in The War Within, including enchants for profession tools, armor, weapons, and even cosmetics. As players upgrade their gear, they will need new enchants to match, making Enchanting one of the main crafting professions that will always be in high demand throughout the expansion.
Mana Oils are making a return in The War Within. These oils can be applied to a player’s weapon to temporarily boost their damage, healing, or secondary stats.
For those who prefer not to craft items, Enchanting still offers benefits. There is a dedicated specialization for disenchanting items into high-quality reagents, which can then be sold on the Auction House for gold.
Making Gold with Enchanting in The War Within
Enchanting will remain an in-demand profession throughout the entire expansion. However, most items are sold on the Region-Wide Auction House, so players specializing in enchantments should expect significant competition. There are also a few non-Auction House goldmaking opportunities, but these are mostly limited to crafting profession tools, enchanted crests, and wands for others.
Specializations are key! Most specializations enhance an enchanter’s ability to craft specific items. Blizzard has included individual text highlights on each craft to indicate which specialization node affects that item. Additionally, there is a dedicated disenchanting tree. While enchanters can pursue both crafting and disenchanting, it’s recommended to focus on one, as both paths require a large amount of knowledge points to master.
Enchanters also have the ability to craft a handful of unique cosmetic items. Gleeful Glamours, like Gleeful Glamour – Worgen, can be used to temporarily change your character’s race. Illusory Adornments are also available to give your shoulders a temporary visual effect.
Things You Can Make with Enchanting
For those unfamiliar with Enchanting, the profession traditionally focuses on enchants, mana oils, enchanted crests, wands, and cosmetics. Enchanting in The War Within follows this tradition, bringing some new recipes to the crafting table:
- Enchants: Similar to previous expansions, a variety of enchants are available for different gear and weapon slots. Players will need multiple enchants to fully maximize their performance. Crafters and gatherers will also rely on profession tool enchants to enhance their secondary stats.
- Mana Oils: Mana Oils are returning in The War Within. These temporarily boost a player’s damage, healing, or secondary stats and are expected to sell quickly since they only last 2 hours each, such as Algari Mana Oil.
- Enchanted Crests: Originally introduced in Dragonflight, Enchanted Crests are also returning in The War Within. Players need these crests to upgrade their crafted gear to higher item levels. Enchanters will rely on tips as their main source of income for these crafts, as they utilize the Crafting Order system.
- Wands: Enchanters are known for crafting wands for casters as well as profession tools for other enchanters. This tradition continues in The War Within.
Enchanting continues to be a versatile and profitable profession, offering a wide range of products that will keep enchanters busy and players well-equipped throughout the expansion.
The War Within Enchanting Specializations
Specializations in The War Within will feel familiar to players, as they receive only minor updates from previous expansions. While similar to past profession systems where players could choose paths like Goblin or Gnomish Engineering, The War Within offers more flexibility, allowing players to develop their skills in a way that suits their playstyle. Although players will eventually be able to master all specializations for their chosen profession, acquiring the necessary Knowledge Points will take time—so it’s important to choose your initial specialization wisely!
Each profession has its own set of unique specializations that thematically enhance crafting and gathering capabilities. Khaz Algar Enchanting is no exception, with access to four distinct specializations: Supplementary Shattering, Designated Disenchanter, Everlasting Enchantments, and Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment. To fully master all these specializations, Enchanters will need to invest 640 Knowledge Points in total:
- Supplementary Shattering: 120 points
- Designated Disenchanter: 120 points
- Everlasting Enchantments: 230 points
- Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment: 170 points
Supplementary Shattering
This specialization focuses on enhancing the core mechanics of Enchanting. Enchanters will gain the ability to Shatter Essence, which grants a temporary buff that boosts their Secondary Skills—Ingenuity, Resourcefulness, and Multicraft—for all Enchanting crafts. As you invest more points into this tree, the Shattered Essence buff will improve, lasting longer and providing greater Secondary bonuses. This specialization is essential for Enchanters who want to maximize the quality and efficiency of their crafting.
Designated Disenchanter
Unlike the other specializations, Designated Disenchanter does not offer any crafting bonuses. Instead, it focuses on enhancing the process of disenchanting Uncommon, Rare, and Epic quality items. Enchanters will be able to obtain higher-quality reagents and bonus materials when disenchanting. Additionally, this specialization increases the chances of acquiring more Storm Dust, Gleaming Shard, and Refulgent Crystal per disenchant. This is the go-to specialization for Enchanters looking to excel in material gathering.
Everlasting Enchantments
This specialization covers all aspects of Enchantment crafting. Whether you’re interested in creating Profession Tool Enchantments, Chest Enchantments, Weapon Enchantments, or a mix of all, you’ll want to prioritize your Knowledge Points in this tree. Everlasting Enchantments is perfect for those who want to focus on providing powerful enchantments to players across the expansion.
Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment
This specialization is the “odd-ball” of the group, focusing on items that don’t fall under the standard Enchantment category. Ephemerals, Enrichments, and Equipment enhances the crafting of Mana Oils, Reagents, Wands, Profession Tools, and Cosmetic items. If you want to explore the broader aspects of Enchanting beyond just traditional enchantments, this tree is where you’ll want to invest your points.
By carefully choosing and investing in these specializations, Enchanters in The War Within can tailor their profession to meet their goals, whether they focus on crafting, disenchanting, or creating specialized items.
