Concentration crafting is one of the easiest ways to make consistent gold in World of Warcraft: Midnight, especially if you have multiple characters with crafting professions. However, there’s a small inefficiency that can quietly cost you time and potential profit: leaving Concentration unused after completing your most profitable crafts.
This is something many players overlook. You log into your crafter, complete a couple of profitable recipes, and log out with a few hundred Concentration remaining. It doesn’t seem particularly important, but over time it can make your crafting routine unnecessarily complicated.
In this guide, we’ll look at a simple way to manage your Concentration using CraftSim, Patron Orders, and your crafting queue so you can get more value from each crafting session.

Become a MemberWhy Leftover Concentration Can Be a Problem
Let’s say you’ve got 1,000 Concentration available on your crafting character.
You’ve identified a profitable recipe that requires approximately 400 Concentration per craft.
You complete two crafts:
| Craft | Concentration |
|---|---|
| Starting Concentration | 1,000 |
| First craft | -400 |
| Second craft | -400 |
| Remaining | 200 |
You’ve made your profitable crafts, but you’re now left with 200 Concentration that you can’t spend on the same recipe.
That isn’t necessarily a problem if you’re planning to log in again soon. The remaining Concentration can be used towards your next crafting session.
However, if you’re managing multiple characters and professions, these leftovers can make your routine increasingly awkward.
Instead of logging in when your Concentration is fully restored, you might find yourself checking characters more frequently because their Concentration totals are no longer aligned.
And when you’re managing several crafting alts, those extra logins quickly add up.
The goal isn’t necessarily to spend every point of Concentration on gold-making crafts. It’s to make your overall crafting routine more efficient.
Managing Two Crafting Professions on One Character
This becomes particularly noticeable when a character has two crafting professions.
Imagine you’ve got a character with both Enchanting and Jewelcrafting.
You log in with both professions at 1,000 Concentration.
You spend all your Enchanting Concentration, but after completing your most profitable Jewelcrafting recipes, you’ve still got 200 remaining.
Now the two professions are recovering from different starting points.
The next time you log in, you might find Enchanting at 1,000 Concentration while Jewelcrafting is sitting at 800.
You complete your crafts again, but because the professions have different available totals, you might end up leaving another awkward amount behind.
This creates a cycle where you’re regularly logging into the same character without making full use of both professions.
It’s not the end of the world, but it defeats one of the biggest advantages of Concentration crafting: earning gold with relatively little active playtime.
Step 1: Use CraftSim to Find Your Most Profitable Concentration Crafts
The first thing I recommend is using CraftSim to work out which recipes offer the best return on your available Concentration.
CraftSim can help you compare crafting costs, expected sale values, and the profitability of different recipes.
Instead of guessing which items are worth crafting, you can use the available information to prioritise recipes that offer a stronger return.
My usual approach is to:
- Check my available Patron Orders.
- Queue any orders that offer a profit or worthwhile profession rewards.
- Run a CraftSim Recipe Scan to identify profitable crafts.
- Add the best Concentration crafts to my crafting queue.
- Complete those crafts before deciding what to do with the remaining Concentration.
The important part is not immediately spending your leftover Concentration.
There’s a good reason to wait until your main crafting queue is finished.
Step 2: Account for Ingenuity Procs Before Spending the Rest
One of the most useful mechanics for Concentration crafting is Ingenuity.
Ingenuity gives you a chance to trigger an Ingenious Breakthrough, refunding Concentration spent on a craft.
That means you can sometimes complete more profitable crafts than your initial Concentration total would normally allow.
For example, you might have enough Concentration to craft two profitable items, but an Ingenuity proc could give you enough back to complete another.
This is why I recommend crafting your most profitable recipes first.
If you spend your leftover Concentration on lower-value activities too early, you might miss an opportunity to use that Concentration on an additional profitable craft.
Gaming Hero Tip: Always finish your main profitable crafting queue before using Patron Orders to spend your remaining Concentration. Ingenuity procs can change how much Concentration you have available.
Step 3: Use Patron Orders to Spend Your Remaining Concentration
Once you’ve completed your profitable crafts, check how much Concentration you’ve got left.
If you’ve got 100, 200, or even 300 Concentration sitting unused, this is where Patron Orders can become particularly useful.
Patron Orders aren’t always profitable in terms of immediate gold.
However, some provide useful profession rewards, including Knowledge Points and profession currencies such as Moxie.
If you’re already interested in completing these orders, using your leftover Concentration can be an efficient way to finish them.

Become a MemberHow to Do This With CraftSim
In CraftSim, open your crafting queue and look for the cogwheel next to Queue Workorders.
Enable the option that allows Concentration to be used for work orders.
You can then select suitable Patron Orders that help consume your remaining Concentration.
The process is straightforward:
- Finish your profitable Concentration crafts.
- Check whether any Ingenuity procs have refunded Concentration.
- Open your CraftSim crafting queue.
- Enable Concentration for queued work orders.
- Select worthwhile Patron Orders that fit your remaining Concentration.
- Complete the orders and finish your crafting session.
This helps you make use of Concentration that would otherwise remain sitting on your character.
There is one important consideration, though.
Don’t spend expensive materials purely to empty your Concentration bar.
If a Patron Order requires materials that cost considerably more than the rewards are worth, you’re potentially losing more gold than you’re gaining in convenience.
The best orders are those you already wanted to complete or those offering rewards that justify the crafting cost.
Step 4: Keep Your Crafting Professions on a Similar Schedule
The biggest advantage of this method is consistency.
If you have two crafting professions on the same character, spending most or all of your Concentration on both professions helps keep their recovery schedules aligned.
Instead of having one profession ready while the other still has hundreds of Concentration to recover, you can aim to complete both professions during the same crafting session.
This makes your crafting routine much easier to manage.
For example:
| Without this method | With this method |
|---|---|
| Complete profitable crafts | Complete profitable crafts |
| Leave 200 Concentration unused | Check remaining Concentration |
| Professions recover on different schedules | Use worthwhile Patron Orders to spend leftovers |
| Potentially log in more frequently | Keep both professions closer to the same schedule |
| More character management | More predictable crafting sessions |
This becomes particularly useful if you have several characters with multiple crafting professions.
Instead of constantly checking which character needs attention, you can develop a more predictable routine.
How Often Should You Log Into Your Concentration Crafters?
If you’re regularly spending all your Concentration, you can organise your crafting sessions around the time required for it to recover.
For Ashlayah, the creator who shared this strategy, that works out to roughly one crafting session every four days.
That means you don’t necessarily need to log into every crafting character daily.
You can let Concentration recover, complete your profitable crafting queue, spend suitable leftovers on Patron Orders, and move on to the next character.
The exact schedule will depend on your available Concentration, recovery rate, and how much you spend during each session.
The important thing is finding a routine that works for you rather than constantly logging in to check whether another craft is available.
Is Spending All Your Concentration Always the Best Choice?
Not necessarily.
There’s an important distinction between maximising gold per point of Concentration and maximising gold per hour of your own time.
If your remaining Concentration could be saved for a highly profitable craft tomorrow, spending it today on a low-value Patron Order might not be the best financial decision.
However, if you’re managing several crafting characters and don’t want to log in again tomorrow, using that Concentration on a worthwhile Patron Order could make sense.
It depends on what you’re trying to achieve.
If your priority is maximum gold, you should focus on the most profitable recipes.
If your priority is consistent passive-style income with minimal character management, keeping your crafting sessions aligned can be more convenient.
And if you can complete Patron Orders that provide valuable Knowledge Points or other profession rewards, you might be able to achieve both.
My Recommended Concentration Crafting Routine
Here’s the complete process I’d recommend for players managing multiple crafting professions.
Before crafting
- Check your available Patron Orders and their rewards.
- Queue profitable or worthwhile Patron Orders.
- Use CraftSim Recipe Scan to identify your best Concentration crafts.
- Queue your most profitable recipes.
During crafting
- Complete your profitable recipes first.
- Watch for Ingenuity procs and Concentration refunds.
- Use any refunded Concentration for additional profitable crafts where possible.
Before logging out
- Check how much Concentration remains.
- Enable Concentration for suitable Patron Orders in CraftSim.
- Complete worthwhile orders using your remaining Concentration.
- Repeat the process for your second crafting profession if applicable.
This gives you a consistent workflow that can be repeated across your crafting characters without spending unnecessary time managing them.
Final Thoughts
Concentration crafting is a great way to make gold in WoW Midnight, but the more crafting characters you manage, the more important it becomes to keep your routine efficient.
Leaving 200 Concentration unused isn’t automatically a mistake. Sometimes saving it for another profitable recipe is the better choice.
However, if you’re repeatedly logging into characters because your professions are recovering at different times, this simple CraftSim and Patron Order trick can help streamline your entire setup.
Prioritise your profitable crafts, take advantage of Ingenuity procs, and use worthwhile Patron Orders to spend the remaining Concentration when it makes sense.
It’s a small adjustment, but across multiple crafting characters, it can save a surprising amount of time.
And as every Goblin knows, time is money, friend!
