Why Farm Mining & Herbalism on the Coiled Isle?
The Coiled Isle is the new outdoor zone introduced in Midnight Patch 12.1 and offers some unique opportunities for gatherers.
You’ll still find the usual Midnight Mining and Herbalism nodes while flying around the island, but the big difference is the introduction of Cursed and Envenomated gathering nodes.
These can reward new Season 2 crafting reagents that aren’t available from normal gathering throughout the rest of Quel’Thalas, giving you another potential source of gold while following your usual Mining and Herbalism route.
The Coiled Isle is also relatively compact, making it ideal for creating a tight gathering route without spending huge amounts of time flying between nodes.

Mining remains one of the easiest gathering professions for making consistent gold in Midnight. While farming the Coiled Isle, you’ll continue finding the standard Midnight ores alongside the island’s special gathering nodes.
| Ore | Zones |
|---|---|
| Refulgent Copper | All zones |
| Umbral Tin | All zones |
| Brilliant Silver | All zones |
Your normal Mining specialisations, profession equipment and gathering stats still apply, so there’s no need to create an entirely new Mining build specifically for the Coiled Isle.
However, Patch 12.1 adds Cursed Mining nodes, which are particularly interesting for gold makers because they can provide Cursebound Globes, a new crafting reagent used by Season 2 professions.
That means you’re no longer farming purely for ore. Every special node you encounter potentially adds another valuable reagent to your farming session.
Coiled Isle Herbalism Gold Farming
Herbalism works similarly. You’ll continue finding Midnight herbs throughout the Coiled Isle while following your gathering route, including materials such as:
| Herb | Best Zones |
|---|---|
| Tranquility Bloom | All zones |
| Sanguithorn | All zones |
| Azeroot | Eversong Woods, Harandar |
| Argentleaf | All zones |
| Mana Lily | All zones |
| Null Lotus | Rare spawn across all zones |
For profession stats, I recommend prioritising Finesse for the highest overall material yield, Perception if rare materials like Null Lotus are selling well, and Deftness if you’re farming zones such as Zul’Aman where frequent mob interruptions make faster gathering worthwhile.
The big difference on the Coiled Isle is once again the new special gathering nodes.
Cursed Herbs can provide Cursebound Globes alongside your normal gathering, making them well worth looking out for while farming.
If you’re running both Mining and Herbalism together, you can take advantage of both types of nodes without changing your route, which is why I personally love running the two professions together for dedicated gathering characters.
Cursebound Globes on the Coiled Isle
One of the biggest reasons to gather on the Coiled Isle is Cursebound Globes.
These are new Patch 12.1 crafting reagents that come from special Cursed gathering nodes found on the island. Both Mining and Herbalism can take advantage of them, giving dual gatherers even more opportunities while flying around the zone.
Because Cursebound Globes are used in new Season 2 crafting recipes, make sure you’re checking their current Auction House value when deciding whether the Coiled Isle is the best place to spend your farming time.
New crafting materials can be extremely profitable while demand is high, but prices will naturally change throughout the patch.
Neutralized Venom Clot Farming
There’s another important Coiled Isle material you should know about: Neutralized Venom Clot.
These are tied to the island’s Curse Surge events.
After completing a Curse Surge, the surrounding area becomes affected by Cursed Land and Waters, allowing special Envenomated gathering nodes to appear nearby.
Mining and Herbalism can both interact with these special nodes to obtain Neutralized Venom Clots.
The important thing to remember is: don’t immediately fly away after completing a Curse Surge.
Take a look around the surrounding area first. If Envenomated nodes have appeared, gathering them can add a nice chunk of extra materials to your farming session before you return to your normal route.
Best Consumables for Coiled Isle Gathering
Consumables make gathering significantly smoother, particularly if you’re planning to farm for an hour or longer.
I highly recommend using Azeroot Tea and Darkmoon Firewater for additional Deftness. Faster gathering means less downtime and fewer interruptions from enemies.
If you want to push your material yield even further, use a Haranir Phial of Finesse and Refulgent Razorstone as well.
You don’t necessarily need every consumable for casual farming, but if your goal is maximising gold per hour, these small bonuses add up considerably over hundreds of nodes.
Recommended Addons for Coiled Isle Farming
There are a few addons I strongly recommend before starting your farm:
- Routes allows you to display and follow farming routes directly on your map and minimap.
- Routes Import/Export allows you to copy our GamingHero route directly into your game.
- GatherMate2 records gathering nodes and makes it much easier to understand where ore and herbs are spawning.
- Auctionator makes checking the current value of everything you’re gathering much easier.
- TradeSkillMaster is excellent for more detailed historical pricing, although it takes considerably longer to set up properly.
For the premium route below, you will specifically need Routes and Routes Import/Export.
Best Coiled Isle Mining & Herbalism Route
I’ve tested the Coiled Isle specifically to create an efficient route for players running Mining and Herbalism together.
The goal isn’t simply to draw a giant circle around the island. A good farming route should reduce unnecessary flying and backtracking while repeatedly taking you through areas with strong gathering opportunities.
Following a tested route also means you don’t need to spend hours building your own route from GatherMate2 data. You can simply import ours and start farming.
Before importing the route, make sure you have both Routes and Routes Import/Export installed. Once they’re ready, type /routes in-game, open the import option and paste the code provided below.

How to Farm the Coiled Isle Route Efficiently
Don’t feel like you have to leave the route every time you see a node in the distance.
One of the easiest ways to destroy your gold per hour is constantly doubling back or flying huge distances for individual nodes. Keep your movement smooth and pick up the ore and herbs that naturally appear around your route.
If you notice another gatherer directly ahead of you clearing everything before you arrive, change direction or move to another part of the route. Even the best farming route becomes inefficient when you’re following someone who’s taking every node first.
Likewise, keep an eye out for Cursed nodes while farming. These are one of the main advantages of gathering on the Coiled Isle compared with simply returning to one of the original Midnight zones.
Combine Your Route With Curse Surges
If a Curse Surge is active nearby, it can be worth temporarily leaving your normal route to complete it.
Once the event finishes, check the surrounding area for Envenomated gathering nodes before returning to your normal farming loop. These nodes provide access to Neutralized Venom Clots and can make the event considerably more valuable for gatherers.
Once you’ve collected the nearby special nodes, simply return to the closest point on your imported route and continue farming as normal.
This gives you a nice balance between consistent gathering and taking advantage of the Coiled Isle’s unique Patch 12.1 mechanics.
Selling Your Coiled Isle Materials
Knowing when to sell is almost as important as knowing what to farm.
I generally recommend selling your materials on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, as these are popular raid days when players are crafting more gear, flasks, potions and other consumables.
The same applies to new materials such as Cursebound Globes and Neutralized Venom Clots. Check their Auction House value before selling and don’t be afraid to hold onto materials temporarily if prices have suddenly crashed.
However, remember that new patch materials can fall in value quickly as more players begin farming them. Sometimes taking a strong price today is better than waiting for a perfect price that never arrives.
Is the Coiled Isle the Best Place to Farm Mining & Herbalism?
Not necessarily all the time, and that’s important to understand.
The Coiled Isle’s biggest advantage is access to its exclusive Season 2 gathering materials alongside normal Midnight herbs and ore.
If normal ore or herb prices are your only concern, another Midnight zone may occasionally provide better results depending on node density, competition and current Auction House prices.
The Coiled Isle becomes particularly attractive when Cursebound Globes and Neutralized Venom Clots are valuable because you’re effectively adding those materials on top of your normal gathering income.
I recommend testing the route for yourself and comparing the value of everything you gather against your usual farming location.
Common Coiled Isle Farming Mistakes
Don’t spend several minutes chasing one valuable-looking node. Maintaining an efficient route is almost always more important than any individual gather.
Make sure your profession equipment is properly set up before beginning a long farming session. Missing Finesse, Deftness, enchants and consumables quietly reduces your returns over hundreds of gathers.
Don’t ignore Curse Surges either. If you’re already farming nearby, completing one and checking for Envenomated nodes afterwards can provide additional Patch 12.1 materials.
Finally, don’t assume the Coiled Isle will always be the highest gold per hour simply because it’s the newest zone. Keep checking material prices and adapt your farming accordingly.
Final Thoughts
The Coiled Isle gives Mining and Herbalism players another excellent way to make gold in WoW: Midnight, particularly because of the new crafting materials introduced in Patch 12.1.
You can still collect all of your normal Midnight ore and herbs, but Cursed nodes, Cursebound Globes, Curse Surges and Neutralized Venom Clots add additional opportunities that aren’t available from standard gathering elsewhere.
Set up your profession equipment, bring the right consumables, import our Coiled Isle route and keep an eye on Auction House prices.
Most importantly, farm efficiently. The goal isn’t to collect every single node you see. It’s to collect as much value as possible for the time you spend farming.
