Leveling Khaz Algar Tailoring in The War Within

Leveling Khaz Algar Tailoring in The War Within is very similar to how it was in Dragonflight and remains one of the simplest primary professions to level. You can quickly reach Skill 65 by using only Trainer-Learned recipes. Cloth continues to be one of the cheapest crafting materials in each expansion. Once you reach Skill 65, you’ll need to seek out high-end crafting recipes from Specializations, World Drops, or Vendors to fully level your profession to Skill 100.

Why Is Tailoring Good in The War Within?

Beginning in Dragonflight, professions received a much-needed rework, and this updated system continues into The War Within. This returns players to the normal profession update cycle, as seen in previous expansions. In The War Within, Tailoring remains a viable profession for both gold-making and farming.

Tailors are well-known for their ability to craft a variety of bags. Just like in previous expansions, bags in The War Within allow players to increase their inventory and bank space. In addition to the Reagent Bags introduced in Dragonflight, The War Within adds new Profession Bags to Tailoring that provide additional boosts to a player’s professions.

Tailoring is also responsible for crafting all cloth-related armor pieces. If you’re a cloth wearer, you’ll rely on Tailors to craft and upgrade your gear. Spellthreads are also making a return and can be used to permanently buff a player’s pants slot.

Making Gold with Tailoring in The War Within

Due to the wide variety of crafted goods, Tailoring offers multiple avenues for players to incorporate gold-making into their preferred playstyle.

  • Work Orders and Realm Reputation: Players who prefer handling Work Orders and building a reputation on their realm can do so by crafting Cloth Gear. Similar to Dragonflight, both Non-Embellished and Embellished gear are available, allowing players to customize their loadout, such as with the Consecrated Robe and Treads of the Woven Dawn.
  • Auction House Sales: For those who prefer to sell regionally, crafting materials, Spellthreads, and Optional Reagents are great options. This allows Tailors to focus on bulk crafting and sell on the Auction House without needing to interact directly with buyers.
  • Combination Approach: Players who enjoy a mix of both methods can sell bags and leveling gear on the Auction House to players within their realm. This approach allows Tailors to avoid advertising themselves and interacting with others while still making sales within their personal community.
  • Gathering and Selling Rare Cloth: Players who want to avoid crafting can focus on gathering rare cloth used in high-end material crafting. They can also benefit from the Textile Treasures buff to collect more cloth overall.

Things You Can Make With Tailoring

For those unfamiliar with Tailoring, the profession traditionally focuses on Bags, Cloth Gear, Reagents, and Spellthreads. Tailoring in The War Within follows this tradition while introducing some new recipes to the crafting table.

  • Bags: Tailors can craft new and improved bags to increase players’ inventories, such as the Dawnweave Reagent Bag and Duskweave Bag. They also have the ability to craft new Profession Bags introduced in The War Within that boost a player’s profession skills, like the Concoctor’s Clutch.
  • Cloth Armor: Crafted Cloth Gear is a staple in Tailoring each expansion, and The War Within is no different. Tailors can specialize in each gear slot to ensure they craft the best gear possible for other players.
  • Reagents: Items like Weavercloth Bolt and Spool of Weaverthread are the backbone of Tailoring. Players who focus on selling to other Tailors can specialize in these materials to produce the best quality at the lowest cost. Tailors also have access to a variety of Optional and Finishing Reagents that can be used by other crafting professions.
  • Spellthreads: Similar to Enchants, Spellthreads provide a permanent stat boost to a player’s leggings. Tailors have access to a variety of Spellthreads in this expansion, such as the Daybreak Spellthread.

Tailoring in The War Within continues to offer a wide range of crafting opportunities, making it a versatile and profitable profession for those who invest their time and resources into it.

The War Within Tailoring Specializations

Specializations in The War Within should look very familiar to players who have experienced previous expansions, as they are only receiving minor updates. Similar to past iterations where you could choose between paths like Goblin Engineering or Gnomish Engineering, specializations in The War Within allow players to customize how they wish to develop their skills. While players can eventually master all specializations for their chosen profession, accumulating the required Knowledge Points takes time—so it’s important to choose your initial specialization wisely!

Each profession has its own set of unique specializations, tailored (pun intended) to enhance crafting and gathering capabilities. Khaz Algar Tailoring is no exception, offering four specializations: Threads of Devotion, From Dawn Until Dusk, Quality Fabric, and Textile Treasures. To fully max out these specializations, Tailors will need to invest a total of 670 Knowledge Points:

Threads of Devotion

Threads of Devotion is dedicated to Cloth Armor Crafting. This specialization contains recipes for generic cloth armor pieces that can be ordered through the Work Order system. As a Tailor specializes further in a piece of armor, they gain a significant skill boost when crafting it. Additionally, Tailors can unlock the ability to use Optional and Finishing Reagents on crafted armor by allocating enough points to each branch of this tree.

From Dawn Until Dusk

From Dawn Until Dusk focuses on the production of the two high-end cloths in this expansion: Dawnweave Bolt and Duskweave Bolt. Similar to the Chronocloth Bolt or Azureweave Bolt from Dragonflight, crafting these bolts is limited by a daily cooldown. Tailors who wish to reduce this cooldown and increase production should prioritize this tree. These bolts are highly sought after, as they are required for nearly every high-end Tailoring craft, including armor and bags. Unlike Dragonflight, these bolts require a unique thread that is crafted from specific cloth found only by Tailors specialized in this branch.

Quality Fabric

Quality Fabric focuses on crafting Tailoring materials and specialty items like Spellthreads. Tailors who want to improve their unraveling and weaving skills to produce better bolts and threads should focus on this specialization. Additionally, this tree is ideal for Tailors who wish to craft finishing reagents, optional reagents, and spellthreads. The Quality Fabric specialization includes recipes, bonuses to Secondary Skills, and a significant bonus to Crafting Skill for specialty Tailoring goods.

Textile Treasures

Textile Treasures is focused on improving the fundamentals of Tailoring, allowing Tailors to boost their Secondary Skills—Ingenuity, Resourcefulness, and Multicraft—across all Tailoring items. Additionally, this specialization increases a Tailor’s ability to find cloth drops from Humanoids in Khaz Algar. This is a specialization that all Tailors will want to invest in to ensure they can craft their goods at the highest rate and quality possible.

By carefully selecting and investing in these specializations, Tailors in The War Within can tailor their profession to match their crafting goals, whether focused on armor, high-end materials, or overall crafting efficiency.

Tailoring Knowledge Point Treasures in The War Within

Knowledge Point Treasures are scattered across Khaz Algar in The War Within, each offering +3 Knowledge Points to Khaz Algar Tailoring. Below is a list of these treasures and their locations:

By finding and collecting these treasures, Tailors can significantly boost their Knowledge Points, aiding in the mastery of their specializations in The War Within.

Tailoring Accessories and Tools in The War Within
